Movies with Hannah

Hannah loves it when we sit to watch a movie
she likes to be part of the experience
and fully participates in the action(meaning she tries to catch the moving figures on the screen)
i think i watch her more than the movies!

Waterford Tug Boat Roundup!

The Tug Boat Roundup is back in business after cancelling the festivities last year due to damage from Hurricane Irene. I have never been to this festival, but i think i just might get there this year! This is also the same location for the Waterford Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings. It's beautiful by the river here. Check it out!

My Walk- More Trees

On the way to the bikepath i pass Greenbriar park, where this huge tree shades the swings
and if you take the time to notice, as you get closer...
it actually fans out to four trunks!
The crotch in the tree is quite large. Lola could fit inside of it comfortably
(i feel another photo coming...)

and this is a little stream just off the road i walk on. I walk early enough each morning that there are very few people out and about. So i always stop here and look for tadpoles and pollywogs swimming in the shallows. It's here that the sounds of the water trickling and the birds singing and the crickets chirping and the heat bugs droning makes me forget all the stuff i think about constantly, and i can quieten my mind and get into the walk.

Anybody know what these berries are?
Old Rose of Sharon near the path
Purple Loosestrife...an invasive species, but beautiful none the less! And the bees just love it.

Unstoppable...the artist Renoir

Renoir suffered with crippling rheumatoid arthritis for the last 3 decades of his life. He never stopped creating beautiful masterpieces.
Never give up...

Road Trip! Lunch at Mexican Radio

I went to lunch with my friends Kate and Val in downtown Hudson NY, to a place called Mexican Radio. The food there was excellent! But it was so much more than great food. The color and the decor there, fed my soul... Check it out...

 I even loved the door.
Candles lit all over the place, even on a sunny afternoon.  I Loved it.
A quiet Mariachi band made of metal
Mexican handmade pottery all over the place, reminded me of my honeymoon all those years ago in Puerto Vallarta
And tho this picture didn't come out so well, i could not bear to delete it. I LOVED this bigger than life sized painting of Mary (I will just HAVE to go back there and try to take a better picture to share with you! sigh... ;)
Downtown Hudson is awesome too. Almost every shop on the main street is filled with beautiful antiques. The funky kind and the very expensive kind. I touched a chair from the 1700's and thought about all the others who had touched that very same wood.

Thoughts on the walk-My Church

This is my Church this morning. This is my Sacred Place. God and the Angels are everywhere here, all around me. I cannot think of better place for Meditation and Prayer. This green cathedral sunlight heals my body and soul. I feel at Peace here....Amen...

Fresh baked bread

This is my first attempt at making soft sandwich bread. My daughter Katie was good enough to share her favorite recipe with me, and it came out great. In the past i made all of our bread using
this recipe, but while i was in the hospital, my sourdough starter went bad. So i decided to try something different! This is delicious!

My Walk-what's bloomin on the path

Here is a nice picture of the wildflowers blooming on the path right now...
 Phlox
 goldenrod
 ???
 sumac
 chicory
 Queen Ann's lace
 Purple loosestrife
 morning glory
purple loosestrife just above where my little weasel friend suns himself
 a lacy leaf
and last but not least...i know these guys are not wild flowers, but they are always together, and they always run out and sit and watch me as i go by on my walk. It's nice to see them almost every day waiting for me!

Flower Essence~ Morning Glory

My newest flower essence is Morning Glory. I used the morning glory flowers and buds that have grown on my fence for many years. These vines are from the seeds that belonged to my Great Grandfather grown originally in his yard, that is now my Mother's
yard.
Morning Glory helps you wake up to face the day in "full bloom" This essence is great for those days when you need to be turned on right from the beginning. It will help you wake up fully when you are feeling foggy headed and need to be sharp
Morning glories are also tenacious climbers too.Their vines can wrap around any surface and cling  tightly. And once they have made an appearance in your garden, it is hard to remove them, they are so tenacious. So this essence is one you can take when you have set a goal and want to move forward with it, no matter what stands in your way..
I think i will be using a lot of this essence!

Ummmmm.....

Around here, if you don't keep the bird feeders full, the squirrels try to help themselves.
I replaced the chewed seed can with a metal one today.
