Painting of Cape Cod

Here is a painting i did on old typewriting paper from a photo i took in Cape Cod. Looking at those roses and honeysuckle brought back some good memories.... I love painting with watercolors on this old paper.

Wow! This is beautiful, Mare! Makes me want to go to Cape Cod - I've never been but this is exactly how I imagine it! You have done some beautiful work while I've been away!

This is beautiful Mare! I think you're amazingly clever to be able to paint like this!
THanks for your sweet comments on Dudley and my blog, and for noticing about my new header! Yes I did do the embroidery, it's a square from a quilt I did in my bluework/redwork faze. Honestly unlike riding bikes, embroidery is super super easily, if you can paint like this you can embroider. I didn't design the drawing myself, it's an old design from a Teddy Bears days of the week, on Wednesday teddy sews, so that's how I got my name.( in case your were interested.)

Thank you Stacy and Jess. I haven't taken enough time to just sit and paint lately. I've been busy with the jewelry and sewing the dolls. But i am going to make myself sit and start working with mixed media-acrylic, gel medium, collage, pencils, and whatever else i can slap onto a canvas or wooden surface. I have so many new ideas...i just have to sit down and DO it! Do either of you take a specific amount of time during the day or week and dedicate it to your art? I just grab what i can and work when i can...

Art is so fascinating. I don't know quite what it is that an artist captures ... a perfect impression of a place. I guess that's why they invented the term "Impressionism." It's a beautiful painting, and it captures the Cape just as I remember it. It's a very specific place, and you totally grabbed ahold of it. Lovely!

Thank you Ananda! I too love the smell of honeysuckle. It's right up there in intensity with lilac and lily scents. The bees and hummers love it too...
