Two Upcoming Art Shows!

"Spring Bouquet"
watercolor, pencil

Things have been moving along here at the Robinson house...slow but sure. Bill is recuperating from his surgery and i am becoming more confident with our new way of doing things every day... We are still pretty much home bound, which works out just fine for me, because this upcoming Troy Night Out is a special one for me and my family. My Mom, my daughter Katie and i are all sharing space in the gallery at The Paper Sparrow on River Street in downtown Troy NY for the May/June show! Mom and i will be showing our paintings, and Katie will be showing some of her photographs, combining mixed media and fiber art.

"Pot of Pansies"
watercolor

I have to admit, i have been so busy making knitted and crocheted toys, rosaries and jewelry, my painting had gotten a little rusty....This upcoming show has made me dust off my paint brushes and get back to work! The name of our show at The Paper Sparrow is "Three Generations", and opening night for the show will be on Troy Night Out, May 28th. Please stop by and say Hi!

"Beat of my Heart"
watercolor and colored pencil

But wait! That's not all! I have also been invited to enter a few pieces of my work in an upcoming show at The Marketplace Gallery in Albany NY!
"Just a little green..."
watercolor, mixed media, collage

I will be one of many local artists showing their work at the "Elemental" show, opening on First Friday, June 4th. The show will hang thru the month of June. This will be my first time showing my work at The Marketplace Gallery. Thank you Sam for giving me this great opportunity!

"As Above, So Below"
watercolor, salt, pencil

So i have been busy painting and matting and framing pieces...deciding what painting goes into what show....It feels good to get my creative juices going again!

Stocking the Shelves

Well, i managed to make three more dolls for The Paper Sparrow this week. A kitty and a puppy out of socks, and a glove dog too. They are all numbered, named, tagged and ready to go to the shop for Troy Night Out.

The new granny square baby blanket is ready to go too, along with some prints of my Mother's and my paintings. They have been selling well recently.

Here is a closer look at the new baby blanket...

This is a close up of the dog's face. His name is Bowser. He is the first sock dog made with my own design. The embroidery is coming along. Just like anything else i guess-the more you do it, the better you get at it. I'm hoping i can improve over time! Ok, time to get these goodies bagged up and off to the shop. I'll be there tonight helping Katie in any way i can. We're expecting a big crowd tonight! I wish you could come!

Painting of Cape Cod

Here is a painting i did on old typewriting paper from a photo i took in Cape Cod. Looking at those roses and honeysuckle brought back some good memories.... I love painting with watercolors on this old paper.

Black Feathers...

When i was a young girl, i used to go and visit my Aunt Mary and Uncle Jack in the "country" (which sadly is no longer the country, but suburbia). She shared with me her love of crows and since then i have a huge respect for these very intelligent and illusive birds.

So Busy...

Just a note to let you know that we have been busy helping my daughter Kate get ready for the opening of her shop The Paper Sparrow. It looks great down there, but it also looks like every free minute we have will go to help her prepare for the big day! She hopes to be open for her first full day of business on Friday, 4/25, which also happens to be the city of Troy's monthly celebration of the businesses in downtown, called Friday Night Out. I promise to take lots of photos and post them here as soon as possible! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring...It's not the prettiest of days, but it's Spring none the less. It is very chilly out there (38 degrees at this moment) and very wet and overcast. Still, I love this time of year. My favorite seasons have always been Spring and Autumn. I always have this feeling of excitement and anticipation, of good things to come. Actually, the Winter this year wasn't so bad. Still i look forward to it's end. I love my little gardens that have been with me for all these years we have lived at this house. I am anxiously waiting to see what will come back up after all the construction going on here these last 3 years, and what we have lost to wear and tear. Regardless of all the mess and construction, i see little blades of green pushing up thru the muddy ground...Little snowdrops, bluebells, and tiger lilies pushing thru. No matter how many times they were stepped on, or had debris piled on top of them, they never seem to give up. A good example for us all....
Today i hope to get some heavy duty Spring Cleaning done around here. With three dogs, and a wheelchair with heavy tire treads, and all that mud, you can imagine what kind of work needs to be tackled! I also hope to slip up into my studio to straighten up there and get some work done for my daughter Katie's store, and for the upcoming fundraiser my Sister Sandy is running in April. I need to finish up some dolls i started for the shop, and make some jewelry for the tea/fund raiser. Oh and finish up the baby blanket, and the baby hats, and the loom knitted guinea pigs for the grand-nephews who will all be at my Mother's house for Easter Egg decorating on Friday morn.... Time to get to work!
