What's Bloomin'~ Christmas Cactus

My old friends the Christmas cactus are blooming right now. This one is a soft peach color, and the only one open right now, tho others have buds. I thank Goodness for the beauty they bring on such a chilly, gray rainy day...I have an assortment of flower colors here... some hot pink, some a pale pink, and there is one that has white flowers with a dark pink throat. Some of my Christmas cactus are very old. I have some pieces of one i got when i went to a plant show with my Grandmother Mary a LONG time ago(Gram has been in Angel form now for over 30 years!) Whenever i find a piece snapped off the main plant(i find this happening a lot now with a house full of kittens!) i tuck it into another pot around the house and if i am lucky, it will take root and grow a new plant for me. What's bloomin' at your house?

You obviously have much greener fingers than I do Mare.
My Christmas cactus died last year and my other cactus aren't looking too good either - no wonder I have to crochet them!

Ooh! Ours is just finishing up. it was completely loaded with magenta blooms this year, so beautiful! It's funny, it is the only remaining house plant in our house now. When we moved in over 9 years ago i brought a whole greenhouse with me. Then with Pony Girl, as she started to crawl, then walk, then climb, we kept giving them away. then last year I finally had to get rid of the few remaining ones due to a disease. That Christmas cactus was the only one not affected and it blooms every year, often twice!

Hi Alex! It used to look like a greenhouse here too, but then the kittens came in, and the windowsills were cleared real fast! It's so good to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by my friend...

oh, I love these! My grandma used to have a house FULL of these blooming during the holidays. My mom has some of them now, and so does my sister (one of them is so old and large that it looks more like a tree trunk at the base than a green plant) but sadly, I don't have a green thumb for indoor plants. I'll just admire yours!!

Most of the houseplants i love remind me of my Gram too. Don't feel too bad about not having a green thumb. You have so many other talents! :) Have a great weekend!
