Rocking in the kitchen with St. Francis, while eating a cheese stick...

This week has been pretty rough. Bill is still in the hospital, making slow progress, but making progress none the less! Still running back and forth to the hospital to spend the day with him, and coming home late, staying up even later with the dogs who have been cooped up all day long, and dragging out of bed to start all over again has been...interesting this week.
But no matter what is going on in my world, when Lola comes to visit, the sun seems to come out and shine bright and nothing can keep me from smiling, right down to my toes.
She has discovered my St Francis statue on my altar, and has taken a shining to him. She likes to look at the little birds that are perched on his head, shoulder, hands and feet.
She reminds me that no matter what is going on, the world is a magical place
that rocking in a rocking chair reminds me of swinging on a swing in the park
and that life is just too much fun to sit still and worry for too long....

Update on Bill

I am just back from the long nerve wracking day at the hospital. Bill's surgery was a success. After many long hours we were able to see him after he returned to his room later this evening. The gross swelling in his abdomen is gone, as is most of his large intestine, and the colostomy is in place. I don't think the doctors are quite used to having folks be happy and enthusiastic about having colostomy surgery being done, but this will be much better for Bill and i in our daily lives. And the quality of our lives will improve too...
I want to say Thank You to all of my beautiful friends out there in the blogosphere who took the time to leave a note or send a prayer....I could feel your prayers and good wishes all day long. I know that all that love and kindness and goodness helped pull us both thru a very tough and scary day. He will be in the hospital for at least another week, and i will have training by the ostomy nurses there at the hospital, and visiting nurses and therapists when we get back home.Thank you again my good friends...I think i might sleep really well tonight.

Prayer Request...

Late last night, Bill and i were riding in an ambulance, making our way back to Albany Medical Center, the big teaching hospital in our area, and the only place i will ever let him go for medical care. He has been feeling poorly these last few weeks and truth be told, he has not been quite right since the last emergency surgery he had last July. He will have more surgery tomorrow afternoon, and if you have the time and inclination, i would greatly appreciate all your thoughts, prayers and warm wishes.... Thank you my friends... Love, mare

Jiggle Butt!

It seems like it is getting harder and harder to get a good picture of Little Miss Wiggle Jiggle Butt here!

There are just some days she cannot sit still and then there are those when she'd rather not have her picture taken at all ... On this day she was wearing her new hat i made for her. She saw the new Spring baby hats i made for my Etsy shop and asked if she could have one too, and POOF! She was wearing it!
Lola likes to help me wash my dishes and wears more dishwater on her clothes than in the dishpan, so now she puts on Gumma's apron and that helps a bit....
She loves to help me when she visits and i think we will be making cookies together real soon!

She's getting so big....
i think she and i will have lots of fun this Spring and Summer....

Button and Thread Jointed Bears

This is Theodoreand this is Gregory
They are my most recent button and thread jointed bears, and i am really happy with the way they turned out!
Gregory is knitted with acrylic yarn. His main color is brown but he is flecked with bits of white, black and grey fibers.
Theodore is knitted from an all natural creamy white wool
These two little guys are not recommended for very small children, as they have safety button eyes and the button and thread joints.
But for older children and the young at heart, they are just right! You can find them in my Etsy shop! I'm off to make some more of these little fellows! Now that Little Honey is on the mend i can get back to work!

Little Honey Update

Little Honey had her surgery date yesterday morning and i am so happy to tell you she did wonderfully and am relieved to have that behind us. When i called the vet's office at 2 to see how she was doing, they said she was doing so well that she could come home earlier than expected. So i was at the office to pick her up at 3:30. I spoke to Dr. White about her procedures and unfortunately he had to make 2 incisions because he could not repair her (very large) hernia from the spay site, so poor Little Honey has 2 zipper-like "booboos" on her tiny little abdomen. Doc showed me her exray of her back legs and tho it doesn't show any real abnormalities, old injuries or fractures, he is watching her and will exray her again in a few months. (something about very minute "lines" in both legs in the very same spot) He recommended some good vitamins for her (which she takes already) and we will be giving her lots of Reiki and love between now and the next time she is exrayed. She spent the rest of the evening in my arms getting constant Reiki, and slept all thru the night. She is still sore and a bit wobbly today, but really she is a tough little cookie and is doing just fine! Both Little Honey and i want to thank you all for your prayers, good thoughts and good wishes sent her way! Her brothers Gipetto and Ruben, and her sisters Zinnia and Pollyanna thank you too!

All Tuckered Out

Right after we returned from Little Honey's first visit to our Veterinarian Dr. White, she ran right over to her bed and fell fast asleep.

She slept so long and was so still that Pollyanna slipped into bed with her just to make sure everything was alright.

She had to get 2 shots and had her hernia and her sore back leg checked. It was a lot of hard work!
She woke up to eat her dinner and then went in to the office and climbed into the bed in there and was joined by her brother, Ruben... Look how much bigger he is next to her! Can you believe they are litter mates!?! Little Honey will be spayed, have her hernia repaired and her back leg
exrayed on Thursday morning. We will all be a bit nervous about all this and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Thanks my friends...
