This is my first hat knitted in the round on circular needles. I have found that if i can avoid seams, i'm very happy! We put this hat on the shelf at The Paper Sparrow and it sold right away!
My Mom really liked it but it was a little too big for her and the color wasn't right so i made her this one over the weekend.
And this is the first "bunting" style hat i have made. Since i no longer have a real live newborn baby to model for me, my pillow doll Prudence stepped up to the task... She looks pretty happy!
Ok, so it is hard to get a good idea what this hat looks like from the side when the model has no neck or chin, but you get the idea, right?
And i finished another necklace this weekend for the shop. This one is made of carnelian beads, hand chained together and fastened with a silver toggle. It's a pretty substantial piece, but hopefully it will appeal to someone for Valentine's Day! Now, on to making more dolls! I am so happy they will not be banned from being sold. Thank Goodness they are reworking the CPSIA law...

Lovely work! and thank god they are re-evaluating the CPSIA :)
We're going to be on a super tight schedule on the way back from the North Country, but I just may have to take the two mile detour into town to stop at The Paper Sparrow on our way back to NYC.
Oh the hats are so pretty, Mare!! Miss Prudence is a very cooperative model I'm sure... even if she uh... has no neck? LOL
The necklace is gorgeous.
What is the CPSIA law? I've never heard of it...
Hi CM, if you stop by the shop, come by on Saturday as she is closed Sunday and Monday. It would be fantastic to meet you!
Hi Paula, The CPSIA law was going to be put into effect early this month. Anyway, that law demanded that ALL items made for children under 12 years of age would have to be tested for lead and a few other things. The testing would be outrageously expensive and in some cases the item being tested would be destroyed in the testing process!!! This would put a lot of cottage industries out of business. So no more knit baby sweaters and hats, no more handmade dolls or stuffed animals...The law has been put on hold for a year until they can take a better look at it and ammend it to be more reasonable (we hope!)
Your dolls, hats, and jewelry are lovely.
Well, Thank You Alpaca Granny! And thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog!
