(This is my new favorite deck, called The Golden Tarot. The artwork is lovely and the edges of the cards are gilded in gold)

I would have pretended not to have seen those 2 and chosen another couple, LOL.
You're right, the artwork is beautiful.

Hahaha..I know they look bad but they are actually good cards to pull. They have a much deeper and complex meaning than this but in general the death card means an end is coming(good or bad-almost never means an actual death)and the hanged man means that the card puller is in sort of a state of suspension, which is true on two fronts for me. We are in a holding pattern waiting for the new baby to arrive, and while i recover from the stroke, lots of things have been put on hold. Like i said, very appropriate!

That is so interesting Mare. I would never of thought that they meant that at all but when you know their meanings it is appropriate. I would love to know more,

Lynne, this is a fascinating study. No matter how much yu learn there is that much more to discover. It is like a living thing. I have piles of books here on divination and Tarot, but if you really are interested to learn more, i recommend reading anything by Mary K. Greer, and i have a book that i recommend to any of my students or clients called: The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Tarot. It's really a good resource book, and a good one to start with. I still use it.

Lynne, i forgot to add, sometimes the best way to start is to pick a deck that you like, one that calls to you, and start looking at the images and getting familiar with the cards. Shuffle and cut the deck to break it in, and get your energy all over it. A good deck to start with is the Morgan Greer deck, or any version of the Rider-Waite deck. I started out with the Morgan Greer deck and still use it all the time. It is still one of my favorites. You can explore the images of different decks online by searching for tarot decks.

Thank you for the tips and advice Mare. It is a fascinating subject and I would love to try. I will have a look on Amazon for that book and a deck that I like.
