A day at the museum...

Yesterday we went to The Clark Museum to see the Georgia O'Keeffe/Arthur Dove exhibit. I just love Georgia O'Keeffe. I don't love all of her work, but i do really like her, the person and the artist. I think she was a fascinating person... and even if i found i didn't like the painting i was looking at very much, i could always feel her, her spirit and her emotions and her strength coming thru. And my very favorite thing in the show wasn't a painting at all, but this little picture of Georgia, sitting on the ground in her garden at Lake George, painting a watercolor of plants she found growing there. I actually have a new found appreciation for Arthur Dove's work too. The museum was fairly crowded for a weekday afternoon. Bill and Katie went off to see the show on their own, but Mom and i stood together and studied and talked about all of the wonders we saw. I love to go to galleries and look at paintings with her, and hear her opinions about different styles and techniques. We had a great time(but you know we have a great time together no matter what we do) It was a lovely show and made for a lovely day... If you'd like to read about the exhibit, click here:

this sounds like a wonderful show! I didn't know much about Georgia O'Keefe (other than her abstract flowers, of course...) until I read a biography of her last year- she was quite a trailblazer, both as an artist and as a woman, for her time.

Morning Crimsoncat and Melissa! I agree with you. She was way ahead of her time, and didn't let much stop her. I usually buy a book based on the show i see at the Clark, but thumbing thru the very expensive pages i decided i already had all that literature and info. BUT i did buy Georgia O'Keeffe's cookbook! She had an organic garden and used to take pride in eating from it and having company over for meals. As i am trying to eat healthier, i desperately need some veggie recipes and this book is loaded with them...
